At Windsor Allied Health, our Clinical Neuropsychological Assessments are designed to understand how brain function affects thinking, memory, attention, language, problem-solving, and emotional wellbeing.
These assessments provide valuable insights into a person’s cognitive strengths and challenges, helping guide diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation, and everyday support.
Who May Need a Neuropsychological Assessment
We assess both children and adults who may have cognitive, developmental, or neurological concerns.
Children may benefit from an assessment if they have:
- Any disorder or difficulty that may be impacting cognition or intellectual functioning
- Attention problems
- Stroke or other acquired brain injury
- Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD)
- Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, or other learning disorders
- Intellectual disability (including those with complex needs such as trauma, mental health, autism)
- ADHD
- Traumatic brain injury
- Memory problems
Adults may benefit from an assessment if they have:
- Schizophrenia (to assess cognitive impairment)
- Intellectual disability (including those with complex needs such as trauma, mental health, medical conditions, autism, or forensic involvement)
- Dementia (including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia, alcohol-related brain injury/dementia)
- Stroke or other acquired brain injury
- Traumatic brain injury
- ADHD
- Any disorder or difficulty that may be impacting cognition or intellectual functioning
- Attention problems
- Memory problems
What to expect
Step 1: Referral & Preparation
You’ll be referred by your GP, another health professional, or in some cases a self-referral. You will complete background forms and, if needed, your GP may order basic health checks or scans.
Step 2: Screening Session
A brief interview and short cognitive testing to decide if a full assessment is needed.
Step 3: Comprehensive Assessment
In-depth testing, covering memory, attention, problem-solving, language, and mood/personality. Includes breaks and uses a combination of computer-based and paper tests.
Step 4: Scoring & Report Writing
Your clinical neuropsychologist analyses your results, considers medical history, and writes a detailed report.
Step 5: Feedback Session
We explain your results in plain language and provide tailored recommendations. You also receive a written report to share with your GP or other providers.
Our Assessment Process
Timeframe
From your initial consultation to receiving your report, most neuropsychological assessments are completed within 3–5weeks, depending on the complexity of the assessment and availability of supporting information.
Pricing information
Assessment costs vary depending on the type and complexity of the assessment required. As a guide, comprehensive neuropsychological assessments typically range between $2,500 and $3000. If multiple assessments are needed (e.g., Cognitive + ADHD), the total cost will depend on the combination.
- Full payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date. A 10% discount will apply if full payment is received within 7days of the assessment proposal being signed.
